For example, with the help of a photo, a customer can order a personalized ring, and the face is engraved with a portrait of himself or a person he loves.
The key to this fun service is the creation of realistic molds with the Ultimaker 3D printer. “First we will receive photos of people who need to be engraved on the ring.†Steenbrink explained: “Based on these photos, we will draw the outline of the face and then we can make the ring. That is, you might make a beautiful ring, but wear it on The hands of others may be unsightly," Steenbrink explained. “And we generally use gold as a material, which is a big waste.â€
In this case, the flexibility brought by the 3D printing prototype brings great convenience to customers and sellers, because a copy can be printed in 3D before the final product is produced, so there is no risk to both parties.
“If someone looks at a ring in our regular product line, it is 10 mm wide, but if he tells us if we want to see if the 6 mm width is right, we can print out a prototype like this for him. , do you really like this width?"" Steenbrink said
