A large number of studies have confirmed that the pressure resistance of corrugated boxes directly affects its ability to protect the contents, and at the same time, it also best reflects the overall quality level of the carton. Therefore, anti-stress has become one of the important indicators to measure the quality of the carton.

Corrugated box pressure resistance refers to the maximum pressure that a corrugated box can withstand when it is crushed in two parallel pressure plates of a pressure tester. The test process can be broadly divided into four stages: the first stage: the process in which the carton creasing lines are gradually compressed; the second stage: the process in which the carton walls are compressed; the third stage: the carton erection and The surface of the box is compressed to the extreme; the fourth stage: the collapse of the mullion and the tank surface, and the process of resisting pressure begins to drop. In general, the corrugated box compression follows this rule. However, due to different factors such as production process, materials, and box type, the compression of the carton at each stage will be different.

There are many factors that affect the pressure resistance of the carton. The main ones are:

1. Corrugated box side pressure strength Corrugated box side pressure strength is an important data for calculating and evaluating the pressure resistance. In general, the greater the carton side pressure strength, the greater the pressure resistance of the carton. In the process of transportation and warehousing, the carton is less likely to be poured and crushed, so that the inner product can be better protected.

2. Specification of Carton When the ratio of length to width of the carton is between 1.2 and 1.5, the pressure resistance is the highest; when the aspect ratio is 2:1, the pressure resistance will decrease, so the aspect ratio of the carton Should not exceed 2, otherwise it will cause a waste of cost.

3. The carton printing process The larger the carton printing area, the lower the anti-pressure, especially the full-printing, block-shaped and long-bar printing, should be avoided when designing.

In addition to this, the corrugated box's perimeter, shape, moisture content, indentation line width, stacking method and other factors will also have different degrees of impact on the pressure.

To evaluate the compressive strength of a carton, it is necessary to perform pressure testing. At present, domestic testing agencies use GB/T4857.4, ASTM D642, T804 and other test standards. These standards use pressure testing machines for the compression testing of corrugated boxes. The upper pressure plate of the pressure tester can be fixed or installed with a universal joint so that it can be freely tilted in any direction.

Different standards under the pressure test test speed will be different, GB/T4857.4 provides a compression rate of 10 ± 3mm/min; ASTM D642 standard provides a compression test at 12.7 ± 2.5mm/min speed; T804 standard The test speed is 13.0±2.5mm/min (note that there are some differences in the anti-pressure values ​​obtained at different compression speeds). After the test is completed, it can be evaluated from the obtained anti-stress data, the damage degree of the carton, and the deformation of the carton.
