8 of the world's newest home designs unveiled at the London Design Festival
The 2017 London Design Festival 2017 takes place in the squares and venues of the capital city. In this event, people can not only appreciate dozens of unusual modern sculpture installations, but also a variety of new products introduced by many designers and brands. Here are 8 of our favorite products, all from the exhibition area of the design hub:
Bentley Grey designed dhow series cabinets
British designer Bethan Gray upgraded the series of gorgeous cabinets launched last year, combining brightly colored woodwork and brass inlays to create new products with new colors and patterns.
Gray said: For the Dhow series, I was inspired by the dhows in the Gulf.
The traditional dhows are propelled by diagonally mounted triangular sails. This cotton-like sail, stitched into a striped pattern, is fixed to the hull by a rope made of coconut shell fibers, creating a unique, textured silhouette. The elegant curved pattern on the cabinets is influenced by this contour.
Samuel Wilkinson's corrugated luminaires designed for the Decode brand
Samuel Wilkinson presented a new type of LED luminaire with an irregular corrugated surface that was aptly named Crinkle.
In an interview with the design magazine "Dezeen", the designer said: The linear lamps on the market are generally rigid in design and lack of new ideas. My lamp just forms a contrast with them. It is suitable for both the domestic market and the contract market.
Deadgood launched the popular carpet
The British brand Deadgood has exhibited a range of new products, including a new dog-inspired dining chair. But our favorite is a set of rugs launched by the brand's internal design team. This rug features light tones and bold patterns.
Dan Ziglam, the co-founder of the brand, said: "We want to keep the product line fresh and continue to try to create a timeless, cutting-edge future classic."
Friends Founders' coat rack
This minimalist style coat rack was designed by the Danish brand Friends Founders creative director Ida Linea Hildebrand and designer Katrine Bjrn. Its main structure consists of a slim black frame and a fixed marble block, in addition to a set of hangers of different geometric shapes.
Voronoi III luminaires from Tala
Tala's new LED luminaire, The Voronoi III, is known as the world's largest engraving bulb. The designer saw the pattern formed by the overlapping canopies, and influenced the design of the bulb. The Voronoi III is made from hand-blown glass with a cylinder in the middle of the bulb that surrounds the LED fittings.
Tala's design director, Joe Armitage, said: LED technology allows us to challenge the traditional form of light bulbs and for the first time break through the boundaries of artificially blown glass.
Barber Osgerby's Ballot Chair for Isokon Plus
Barber Osgerby, a two-person design group, and the UK furniture brand Isokon Plus, after the initial collaboration of the Loop Coffee Table, have teamed up again in 21 years. This time they launched a dining chair called the Ballot Chair. Made from sturdy oak, this chair can be stacked for easy storage.
Edward Barber said: "This Ballot Chair is simple in design and comfortable to touch."
Jesmonite container jointly launched by Olivia Aspinall Studio and Ornamental Grace
Olivia Aspinall Studio and Ornamental Grace have launched a limited edition series of color containers that combine the two most popular materials, Jesmonite (terrain composite) and terrazzo. The iconic pattern on each container surface is created by coloring the Jesmonite polymer and adding it to the original mixture.
The deep design appeal of Jan Hendzel Studio
Designer Jan Hendzel explored recycled wood in the latest collection, designed to show the different textures of wood in unusual patterns.
The designer said: "By using decorative mosaic techniques, we can create a variety of abstract patterns and undulations on the surface of the wood. As a result, patterns, materials and textures achieve a poetic coexistence."
