2016 Fujitsu RFID tag sales more than 100 million times longer

Fujitsu Frontech’s Fujitsu Frontech’s shipment of RFID tags increased, and its 2016 fiscal year (2016/4-2017/3) shipments grew approximately 4 times from 2015 fiscal year and exceeded 100 million for the first time .

Fujitsu Frontech is engaged in RFID antenna design, processing and other services, and is proficient in related content. According to Fujitsu Frontech’s Minister of Industry, Ochiai Hiroki, more than 10 years ago, the unit price for selling RFID was as high as 200 yen (about US$1.82). The current production cost is greatly reduced and the price can be controlled below 10 yen.

The apparel industry is actively using RFID technology to expand the overall market size, and future demand may be stronger. Some outlets even install RFID tags on socks with a unit price of 500 yen, allowing consumers to check out directly at unmanned counters. On the other hand, the Japanese government's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) requires Japanese large-scale supermarket chains to actively introduce RFID by 2025.

The reason why the apparel industry can use RFID is that RFID helps speed up checkout, unloading, and preventing theft. In the past, products such as bar codes and the like could only read information one by one, and the products could only be checked out before they could be stocked. However, RFID can read large amounts of information at once, save a lot of time, and even shorten the unloading time to 1/4.

Marks & Spencer uses laser printing to replace fruit paper labels

Marks & Spencer (M&S) has launched a new laser printing method to label avocados in the hope of reducing paper waste.

The British retailer said that the shift from using paper-based adhesive labels to laser printing will save 10 tons of label & backing paper per year and 5 tons of adhesive. Laser printing will be printed on the outer layer of avocado M&S logo, best date of consumption, country of origin and cash register code.

M&S claims that the intense light hitting the skin of the fruit will only cause its outermost peel to fade, and it will not be destructive to the fruit, and the operation can be very precise.
