Scientists Tomsk State University (TSU) are actively developing the first floating 3D printer in the world, this printer is designed for a wide range of engineering tasks and design, has focused acoustic suspension function.

Currently, a scale model has been assembled: it is capable of suspending small particles (such as polystyrene) and moving them through changes in the sound field.

“The domestic integrated 3D printing technology will be completed by 2020. The development of the first phase is completely controlled by particle suspension and has been developed. In the future, we will try different project management techniques, due to the arrangement in space, it can be very It's easy to create complex 3D object models,” said DSU Professor Dmitry Sukhanov, head of the project.

The developer emphasizes the unique levitation of 3D printers within the framework of import substitution schemes, including domestic technical components produced in the Russian Federation, such as ultrasonic transducer grids, multiple multi-control systems and the necessary software.

“In the future, the project will involve chemists who will be able to determine the best materials to use in suspended particle suspensions, as well as the specific temperature conditions at which these particles can be grouped in specific objects,” concludes Dmitry Sukhanov.
