The influence of ink factors on the gloss of printed matter

The auxiliary components of the ink include fillers, diluents, anti-skinning agents, anti-offset agents, slip agents, other auxiliaries, and the like. The pigment of the ink adheres to the outer surface of the paper by the binder. Most of the packaging and decoration prints now use coated whiteboard paper, wood pulp noodle whiteboard paper, general cardboard paper, wood pulp linerboard paper, kraft paper and white cardboard. The difference in the production process of different paper mills creates a significant difference in the whiteness and smoothness of the paper. At the instant of imprinting, the pigment content of the ink is high. If the content of the pigment is low, the ink will adhere to the appearance of the paper, so that most of the bonding material enters the empty space of the paper to form an ink film on the substrate. Thinner, the pigment particles are exposed, leaving the final color not gorgeous.

When the color ink is coated, the ink fountain and the ink roller are not clean, and other inks are mixed, which tends to form a color cast, and the same color is not gorgeous. Therefore, when changing colors, be sure to clean the ink fountain, ink roller and water roller, especially when it is dark to light. The general practice is to clean the dark ink, then shovel some of the light-colored ink that will be applied, and then wash it after mixing for a while.

The traditional offset printing method is still based on the ink balance to complete the printing process. According to the analysis of the ink delivery process, the emulsification of the ink is inevitable. However, the ink after excessive emulsification will cause the color of the printed product to be lighter and darker, resulting in a decrease in color brilliance.

When printing a printed matter with a small graphic area, the amount of new ink added to the fountain roller per cycle is also reduced, so that the inks that have been retained on the ink roller for a long time are subjected to mixing and squeezing of the fountain solution several times. Pressing and rolling cause severe emulsification of the ink, resulting in a color that is not bright.
