Dow Adds Low Cost Ethylene Copolymer LLDPE Products
Dow Chemical, Midland, Mich., recently introduced new ethylene copolymer LLDPE and mLLDPE film-grade resin grades to the market. The new grade uses the same standard solution process technology that the company produces octene copolymers. The newly-listed products include 6 LLDPE (Dowlex) grades produced with Ziegler-Natta catalysts and 1 mLLDPE (Elite) grades produced with single-center metallocene catalysts. According to Joe Laehu, marketing manager of the company, this is a signal that Dow will change the structure of its production products after long-term work. Ethylene copolymers are inexpensive and sufficient substitutes for high performance octene copolymers. The six Dowlex grades range in density from 0. 9190 to 0.9309g/cm 3, and the melt flow rate from 0. 75 to 0. 90g/10 min. One of the first commercially available Elite grades has a density of 0·9170g/cm 3. Flow rate 4.50g/10min.
