Foods are keen on "active packaging"

According to the British "New Scientist" website, a type of technology known as "positive packaging" has been put into use in the United States, France and other places. This "smart" package can protect food quality more effectively. For example, it is directly shown whether the food is fresh or not, so that the consumer does not have to wait until the package is opened before he discovers whether the food has deteriorated. Many companies realize that allowing customers to understand the fresh food provided to them is a potentially huge commercial benefit.

At present, some companies in the United States are developing fresh food packaging for frozen foods. The new packaging can monitor the release of gases from meat, fish, or vegetables that have been improperly rotated and deteriorated due to freezing. In New Zealand, researchers are developing a fruit packaging that can indicate when peaches, such as peaches, are soaked and pressed.

Food technology researchers estimate that the next 20% to 40% of food packaging will use "active packaging" technology.
