Pre-press practical tips

Graphic design process:
1.Conceive, design, arrange, plan, prepare materials.
2. Use Photoshop to edit the picture, including modification, color correction, splicing, etc. After processing is complete, you must convert the CMYK TIF or EPS file to 300dpi.
2. Make graphs with vector software and save them as CMYK EPS files.
3. Write a text file with a plain text writer.
4. After all the materials are ready, combine them using layout software.
5. Deal with trapping issues.
6. Proofing, proofreading, correcting mistakes.
7. Use Postscript printer output to test output availability.
8. Prepare output files, including the use of the platform, the software used, the files used, the fonts used, the font list and location, and the requirements for output.
9. Copies all files including the used fonts to the MO or CDR along with the output document to the export company.

Professional use of fonts and typefaces
1. Usually headings should be sans serif words, such as bold. However, the headline can also use serif words, such as the song will produce a strong decorative. The main body of the text is serif, and it is the most suitable for the song. (Many publicity texts mistakenly use ball-headed characters, which can make people feel struggling and lose patience.)

2. There should be no more than four types of fonts used throughout (unless you want to show people how many fonts you have on your disc). The word size should not exceed 5 kinds. For: headline/subheadline/subheadline/text/graphic, generally 3 types are enough. (Excessive fonts and sizes can create clutter and make people's eyes lose their understanding)

3. The use of several different word sizes should be uniform, the subheadings should use the same size, and the body should use the same size. (Wrong use of the word size is like a typo in a promotional item, which makes people question the quality of the product you advertise.)

4. Text color should not change too much, the text must use black, can not use anti-white characters in the text, in some poor quality paper or printing machine will be printed in a stupid, not comfortable reading. (except for greeting cards of course)

5. The text should not be less than 10 points. There are too many people with presbyopia and nearsightedness. You must let most people read it easily and happily. (If your readers are mostly elderly people, you should pay more attention to them.)

6. In the text, some changes may be added to key sentences and words, such as italics, color words, etc. But don't overdo it. Look at the propaganda products of some famous big companies that meet the above principles and respect the above principles. Your design will increase professionalism.

What font is used?
TrueType or Type1, although some books suggest using only Type1, TrueType can also meet the needs well. So far, the most stable PC platform is Wending fonts, do not use Founder and Han Ding fonts, Founder fonts will be only half out, is only the upper half of a word, the lower half blank, Han Ding font out The word will be missing, because there are some characters in the Chinese character dictionary. So the place where there is no word is blank. Other miscellaneous fonts are not considered, because it is a printing platform, font versatility is a problem, but the first consideration is still stability, and the other is versatility, if the two conflict, the preferred or stability, font stability, if The output company does not have this font, we copy them to help our files output normally. If you choose versatility instead of stability, then your font will not be copied to the output company, but there are a lot of problems with the font, you will choose which one? The wise man knows it well.

How to transfer files?
If your file is very small, such as a pure vector file, you may of course consider using E-mail to pass it, but if the file includes pictures, it will often reach 10 to several hundred megabytes in size. You can choose to use a mobile hard disk, MO. , CD-R or U disk, or FTP, online transmission system, pay attention if you use a mobile hard disk or U disk and use the PC platform, be careful not to forget to bring the driver. Because if you use the PageMaker 6.0 PC platform to output, the output company must have the Win98 platform to help out and output PageMaker 6.0. If you use the USB interface, Win98 won't automatically recognize USB devices like Win2000, so you need to bring the driver if you use Apple platforms (usually rare), then do not have to consider this issue, because Apple comes with drivers.
