First, the needs of domestic banks for security systems: both reliable and save money

1. Characteristics and deficiencies of existing magnetic strip technology

We know that the magnetic strip technology commonly used by domestic banks has the characteristics of fast and repeated writing and reading of data; strong compatibility of reading and writing equipment; low cost and simple production, but it also has many technical shortcomings. Such as:

On the one hand, the cost of the IC card system is relatively high, and the development of the system is more difficult than the magnetic stripe system. On the other hand, banks that have used magnetic stripe cards in domestic banks account for a large proportion, if they are completely replaced, regardless of the bank. It is still a huge investment for users, so it is still difficult to fully popularize IC cards nationwide.

In the encoding process, the 1, 2, and 3 tracks of the ordinary magnetic stripe are defined as non-encoded tracks, which can be read and written; and the information that cannot be deleted, changed, copied, and magnetized is solidified in track 0, which is read-only. We call the track that records this information a coding track, which is called a zero-track coding security solution (see Figure 1).

The principle of the zero track coding security solution is to use the track 0 of the coded magnetic strip to solidify each magnetic stripe fold, and then associate the data of 2 and 3 tracks with the solidified 0 track data for anti-counterfeiting identification. Sexual characteristics. When the perpetrator forges a card fold, it cannot copy to track 0, but only for track 2 and track 3, because the hardened 0 track data must be called during use, and the "foot" will be exposed when used; The data of the magnetic stripe card 0 track can not be rewritten, deleted, copied, and magnetized permanently. The data of the 0 track is protected, and the 2 and 3 tracks are related to the 0 track, so the data of the 2 and 3 tracks is equivalent to The protection, therefore, due to the existence of the 0 track, the magnetic data becomes non-reproducible, and the modified magnetic stripe has a function similar to an IC card.

A coded magnetic strip is a specially structured magnetic record data strip, each unit coded magnetic strip having a fixed set of permanently immutable codes. Each fixed code can be a unique code; the fixed unique code is the key to accurately verify the legitimacy of each magnetic stripe card when communicating with the bank host; the code is permanently solidified in the magnetic stripe structure during manufacture and cannot be deleted, changed, Copying and magnetization; the encoded magnetic strip can be used to read and write the non-encoded part of the magnetic stripe by an ordinary reader, and the method of use is exactly the same as that of the ordinary reader, and the operation is simple.

Third, analyze the bank zero track encoder security solution

During the use of the magnetic card, its anti-counterfeiting information is read by the magnetic card machine, and verified by the terminal, the front-end machine, the application system server, and the system host layer (see Figure 3), and finally the identification is completed. The bank zero-track encoder security solution includes two parts: “track coding” when depositing accounts and “code recognition” in daily deposit and withdrawal business. The specific operation process is shown in Figure 2 below.

When opening an account, the user will obtain a magnetic stripe card with a unique identification of the "0 track code". The data is read into the front-end machine through the reader on the magnetic card machine, and the data is "mixed" by the front-end machine. Form ciphertext write 2, 3 tracks, complete the establishment of the unique identification of the card fold. In the process of depositing and withdrawing business, the information of the 2nd and 3rd tracks is decrypted by the front-end machine, and the information in the 0 track is jointly recognized, and the anti-counterfeiting verification of the card folding is finally completed.



Fourth, the implementation of bank track encoder security solutions

In the application process of zero-track coding technology, the implementation is simple and the cost is the important feature of this solution. It is concentrated in the corresponding transformation of banking business and application software, which can effectively protect the original hardware investment of the bank and reduce the technical transformation. cost.

Specifically, since the authentication process of the magnetic stripe folding is solved on the front-end machine, the adjustment involving the overall application system is not very large (if the upper-layer program of the front-end machine does not require the result of the authentication, only the driver of the magnetic card needs to be modified. It should be pointed out that this scheme will add a little operation when the bank newly issued the magnetic stripe card fold, because the system needs 0 track data (read) to (write) the new coded magnetic stripe card fold, and it is necessary to draw two passbooks or magnetic cards. Rather than the new coded magnetic stripe, the folding will not increase the operation.

It should be said that this program is basically consistent with the operation mode of the original bank's magnetic card, and can fully utilize the original hardware equipment of the bank to ensure the original investment of the bank.
