Plastic bottles are almost full of aspects of our lives, and the packaging of drugs we produce is just a small part of them. However, it is not a simple matter to meet its special requirements for transparency, color, safety, airtightness, etc. In addition to studying the product's structural design and manufacturing process, the formula design of the product is also an important aspect. Take the white bottle we produced, although it is called PE bottle, but it is not made of pure PE resin, and it still contains some blends and auxiliaries such as PP, masterbatch, etc. Modification, because the use of PE resin alone can not meet our requirements for the product, and the process of finding these additives that can be used to modify the resin and the added amount is called "formulation design." The key factor in the success of formula design is the choice of raw materials. According to statistics, for a plastic product, if the trial production of the product fails, the raw material selection error will be about 23%. This requires us to understand the nature of the raw materials.
Although there are many kinds of plastics and they have a variety of different properties, it is necessary to meet the specific requirements of the products and to modify the plastics. This requires the addition of suitable additives to the resin. The PE bottle is also taken as an example: The color masterbatch which is added is a kind of auxiliary agent and is called a colorant. There are many types of additives, which can be roughly divided into: plasticizers, stabilizers, colorants, flame retardants, tougheners, antioxidants, foaming agents, and the like. The purpose of formula design is to choose suitable additives to improve the processing performance of the resin, internal performance and reduce costs. There are hundreds of auxiliaries that can be used in formula design, and there are hundreds of types of resins that can be blended. In order to select suitable ones, a needle in a haystack is not acceptable. Formula design must be based on certain principles.
1, according to the use of products designed
In the case of HDPE bottles, oil modification is required for oil loading; barrier modification is required for carbonated beverages; black is used for light-sensitive drugs; and PP injection chairs are used for low-temperature impact modification in the north. Under the mine, anti-static and flame-retardant modification should be carried out.
2, according to the compatibility of additives and resins design
3, according to the processing performance of additives designed;
4, according to the processing method for design;
5. According to the source and cost of additives;
When it can be used instead, try to use a wide range of sources, convenient purchase, and low cost additives.
6, according to the safety of additives to design;
For pharmaceutical packaging, safe, non-toxic (or low-toxicity) additives should be selected. With these basic principles as a guide, we can do a definite task when formulating formulas. For the variable formulation design can be used - step-up method, the golden section method, the biscuit method, batch experiments and so on. For multivariable formulation design can be used - orthogonal methods.

1. The impact strength of PS is the worst variety in plastics, and it is often selected from rubbers for impact modification such as styrene butadiene rubber, ethylene propylene rubber, SBS and ABS.
