Analysis on the Cases of Bad Fastness of the Promotional Labeling of the Hose of the Hose
Everyone in the market sometimes sees a sticker on the tail of the hose. The main function is to attract consumers' attention. The second is to increase the hose printing itself without promotional information; so we generally put this The class label is called a hose promotion label.
Hose promotional labels are generally made of bright silver PP, bright silver PET, white PP, which is mostly bright silver material, because this material can maximize the eyeball and achieve the promotion effect. In terms of physical properties, promotional labels generally need to vacate a part of the sticker, requiring the self-adhesive material itself to have a certain degree of stiffness, so most of the 50u PP or 50u PET materials are selected. Sometimes customers need to use thicker materials, such as 180u thick PET, in order to meet the needs of product packaging and transportation, and to avoid external deformation during transportation.
Thick materials can guarantee the stiffness of the label, but it may also bring unexpected troubles in subsequent large production. At the end of 2015 we encountered a similar case.
Customer feedback Our promotional label has no way to stick to the hose on the production line. After the label is manually labeled, the label will fall off.
Preliminary analysis: The situation seen on the spot is exactly as the customer said, the label is not as good as before. When the hose and label were taken back to the company office for further analysis, the label was found to be more sticky. The complaint occurred in the winter, and the office temperature was higher than the customer's production line temperature. The increase in temperature increases the fluidity of the glue, which is beneficial to the viscosity of the glue.
Preliminary solution: Retrieve the label and store it in a 25°C environment for 24 hours. At the same time, add heating equipment to the customer labeling line to keep the label at a temperature of around 25 °C before labeling.
Test result: Failure.
Further analysis: It was subsequently learned that the customer changed the hose supplier and that the surface of the hose was printed with protective varnish. The wax and silicon added in the varnish will float on the surface of the varnish after printing and drying, which can protect the printing ink and scratch resistance; but it also reduces the surface energy of the hose and affects the viscosity of the glue.
Temporary solution: Wipe the end of the hose with a 40% alcohol wipe, wipe it twice, then dry it with a dry rag and attach the label. (Because the time to market is tight, if you redo the hose, you need to arrange for refilling.)
Test results: The labeling effect has been greatly improved, and the field test passed the inspection by the customer quality department.
After the delivery problem was resolved, the supplier of the self-adhesive material was convened for further analysis and the hose supplier was contacted with the goal of providing a set of fundamental solutions to the customer:

The root cause: the varnish on the surface of the hose contains silicon and wax components, and the surface energy is too low, resulting in poor labeling.
