Roland DGA Showcases Versa UV LEC Wide Inkjet Printer
Roland DGA will exhibit its Versa UV LEC wide-format inkjet printer at Print 09 this year.
The California-based company said that the world’s first printer/cutter uses safe, low-heat LED lamps that can print CMYK, white ink, and clear coatings.
This machine can produce disposable packaging products and short-term labels and create "very rich special effects", whether it is from high-gloss highlight areas or a variety of texture effects, such as artificial leather and crocodile skin.
Mat Drake, print product manager for Roland DG UK, said: "This machine is the first UV printer to be integrated in one, it can print on almost any substrate and create a variety of textures and effects. It is a printing machine that can print printable CMYK, white ink and varnishes and is particularly successful in the label and packaging industry.†He also added that the Versa UV LEC machine's ability to print Braille was also achieved.
Roland ECO-UV ink will also be exhibited at this exhibition. According to Roland, this ink is very "easy to handle" and can stretch on curved surfaces and is not susceptible to cracking.
