In 1981, American Ron Rongg founded Outdoor Research. In the following twenty years, Ron has been focusing on researching solutions and providing practical and functional equipment for outdoor sports enthusiasts to encounter various challenges in the wild. With the development of outdoor gloves, hats, snow jackets and other products, OR has grown rapidly and has become a supplier of gloves and hats to the US military. By the turn of the century, OR has owned a line of apparel, outdoor accessories and lightweight camping products. OR is no longer confined to producing the world's top outdoor accessories, but provides products that are superior in functionality and comfort from head to toe and from inside to outside. In 2003, Ron suffered an avalanche and Dan Nordstrom became the OR's new owner. OR revived after a brief depression and developed many new classic products. The Designed By Adventure, the core of the OR brand concept, was featured in the functional aspects of the product in 2011.
